Why Cold Calling Is Still Important In The Social Media Age

In a world where technological advancement is a necessity, we are bombarded with tremendous unwanted emails and telemarketing calls almost everyday. That is why many professionals and businessmen regard cold calls as history. When social media cold calling gained its place in the market, they say that it killed cold calling. It is as simple as why call or email a person when you can just add a tweet or message them direct to their facebook or LinkedIn accounts?

Though social media despite its fame because of convenience of usage, has not exactly changed cold calling, instead it just made it easier and more practical. Just the same, cold calling is like tweeting or messaging in social media too, because you send out unsolicited messages to prospect clients over the internet. Cold calling encompasses using the phone to talk to target customers and explaining the products and perks to them and just the same, in social media they do cold calling by messaging their potential buyers and still explaining the different products they offer. Still, you are promoting products with a cold call for your company’s sales.

Cold calling is called cold for the reason that you’re not socially connected or related to the person you are talking to. The large advantage of social media usage in promotions is that calls are lesser than before and you can connect to prospect customers through their friends and networks too.

Social media tools like LinkedIn made cold calling easier, practical and convenient. Actually, they are not eradicating cold calling, but instead, they are taking it to another level of office habits into a more creative field of socialization. For example, instead of telling names during cold calls just to justify the connection between the two, LinkedIn or Facebook, would show how you are connected.

Furthermore, social media creates this community nature wherein you are connected to each other and know the feelings of each. To cite an example, a customer shares in her account the anger or frustration she has because of a competitor in business, you can message her citing perks of your product as compared to the ones the other company is promoting.

Hence, for companies who are still using cold calling for promotions, make certain that the employees are also in depth with social media to make advertisements and find potential customers. Building networks in the internet is a very ideal practice and at the same time, it can make cold calling more comfortable to do and practice. There are many advantages of using social media in our daily lives.
